What is an insurance umpire?
An insurance umpire is a neutral third party who breaks a stalemate between your appraiser and your insurer's appraiser during a property claim appraisal. Under a standard Colorado appraisal-clause dispute, you and your insurer each hire an independent appraiser; if the two can't agree on the value of the loss, they jointly select an umpire, and agreement of any two of the three is binding.
